I think we had three contests running each hour so things in the studio were getting more hectic.

The procedure during the last hour was to pull all the commercials for the next hour. We often ran

30 to 40 commercials each hour. So the working space got pretty cluttered. The reel to reel tape

recorder got quite a work out. We would record a pre-feed of the network news on the half hour for

playback at :55. Also the Cash Call contest was recorded for playback. During all this activity Ted

Stevens would be in the studio pulling the records for his first hour and this particular morning Ted

was goofing around trying to break me up. He had a red plastic comb which he stuck on top of his

head and was trotting around in the studio gobbling like a turkey and making socially insensitive

variations of our contest titles. Attempting to pull myself together my mouth slipped up, my rhythm

was broken and this was the result.
